My Birthday – 15 to 16 | Emily K

Yesterday I turned 16!

I had a lovely birthday with my family in Cornwall. Unfortunately it rained basically ALL day, the worst weather we’ve had the whole holiday (today is beautiful like ugh seriously lol), but there was a rainbow in the evening! I still had an amazing day. We made pancakes (correction: my dad made them, we ate them), went to a town called Falmouth, had a nice pub lunch, and spent the evening watching Friends – what more could you want? It was so nice!

The beautiful rainbow which appeared in the evening!

This ‘Good Vibes Cafe’ was just the cutest!
I thought it would be a fun idea to chat about the last year and set some goals for the coming one.

So. 15 was pretty cool. It had its ups and downs. New challenges to face. Previous battles were continued to be fought, some of which were won! But there was a lot of cool stuff too! I got my puppy, Coco, who is now 5 months old! I joined the youth group at my new church, which is pretty amazing. I did my GCSE’S (not fun, but fun that it’s over). I made new friends at a Christian festival called Spring Harvest – better still I’ve kept in touch with those amazing people. I had the best week ever volunteering at a kids holiday camp (seriously, kids are awesome). I was very lucky to get to go away a few times – to Spain last Summer, to Devon in October, to Rome a few weeks go, and now to Cornwall! Relationships were strengthened, and new ones were formed. And altogether I got to discover more about myself and the things I’m passionate about.

Looking forward to 16. I’m starting sixth form/A-Levels in a few weeks. That’s scary, but it’s also exciting. I’m excited to be able to focus more on my interests, and develop them more. Okay, so, aims for this year:

  • Get organised and stay on top of work from the beginning.
This is such an important tip, especially for A-Levels, I’ve been told. Hopefully it shouldn’t be too hard, I’m naturally very organised, and I love buying new folders and stationary!
  • Work hard, but find a balance.
I genuinely want to do well. Who doesn’t? So I’m going to put in as much effort as I can to get good grades, but also attempt to manage my time (I’m so bad at this), so I have time to do other things, like hanging out with friends, reading, or writing this blog!
  • Read and write more!
I love reading. And I often find it gets neglected during school time. I’m determined not to let that happen again. I want to read everyday, just for fifteen minutes before I go to sleep – and that means I’ll have lots of books to review! I also love writing. I struggle with it though, and I give up easily. I want to try and get my novel into shape, but just with a glance at it I put it away, because it’s honestly so bad ugh.
  • Make the most of opportunities.
In sixth form there are so many opportunities to do different things. Now that I’m a bit more confident, I want to make the most of them.

There we go! There are a few more goals that I have, but those are the main ones that I thought I’d share!

How are you all?

Love, Em x

  1. Happy late birthday! (Oh shucks I’m late!!) I find that I often neglect reading during the school year too… And when this summer came around I just happened to fall into a massive reading slump! So I’m hoping to read more than usual this school year as well. ^_^

I love writing as well but I only ever seem to write short little snippets and they’re not that good…. πŸ™ˆ I need to post them on my blog sometime; I think that’d be fun!

  4. Omg happy birthday! THAT CAFE IS SO CUTE YOU’RE RIGHT. Have you read The Dark Artifices because when I was reading this post I was like Cornwall? Cornwall. CORNWALL CORNWALL THE BLACKTHORNS JULIAN EMMA LORD OF SHADOWS MALCOLM CORNWALL. Hahaaaa I had to look up cornwall on the shadow hunters fandom page to make sure I’m not insane. Although I probably sound insane if you haven’t read the book…or kind of regardless lolll.
